About a month ago, I drove through a pothole on an on-ramp between highways 401 and 400. It blew my tire and threw off my alignment, to the tune of about $500, taxes in. There was no way to see it. I thought about going after the MTO for damages, but after procrastinating all this time, I’ve decided not to. You could say I copped out, but I realized today how precious my time is to me. I think it’s a safe bet I would spend more than $500 worth of time of it dicking around with bureaucrats, trying to convince them my misfortune was the government’s fault.

I would like SOMEBODY to pay for this. It’s sure as heck not my fault. But who can I really blame for water seeping into a crack in the road, freezing, expanding, thawing, again and again, until an 18-wheeler knocks a hole through the pavement at that spot? And who can I go after about my lousy luck for driving through it?
