Lately, Leo’s been fascinated with the telephone. He picks up pretty much any object, holds it to his ear, and says, “Atah?”

Then he holds it to Claire or me. “Dah,” he announces. We’re guessing that translates as, “It’s for you.”

Yesterday, Leo even made his first real phone call on his own. Little guy that he is, he started with a little phone number: 9-1-1.

Claire knew Leo had the cordless phone, but hadn’t realized he was making such dramatic developmental leaps until the phone rang. When she picked up, it was the 911 operator calling to:

  1. Make sure everything was OK
  2. Suggest that Leo perhaps be given a different toy

Profuse apologies followed.

Allrighty then. Scratch phones from Leo’s access control list.
